What are the office hours?
The office hours from September through May are Monday through Friday - 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. In the summer the office is open from Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The office has an answering machine and your calls will be promptly answered.
What to expect if I come to worship?
Sunday Services
Our Sunday morning worshop service usually lasts one hour. We descibe our worship style at Girard First as "blended." We sing both traditional hymns and more contemporary praise music.
On Sunday we have a casual come as you are Praise Service. Songs are more contemporary and
upbeat. There is a sermon that is different from the Sunday morning service.
Arriving
Most folk enter through the double doors on Market Street. There you will be welcomed by greeters who can answer any questions you have. You may feel free to enter through any of the doors.
Come As You Are
Dress as you are comfortable. At Girard First you'll see blue jeans and suits alike.
Bring the Kids
We provide a nursery for children under the age of four. A children's sermon is incorporated into the worship service and then the children through the 4th grade go to junior church. We welcome small voices in our worship.
Fellowship
Coffee and goodies are provided in the fellowship hall after church. Ask any one for directions.
What do we offer?
The Girard First UMC offers opportunities for spiritual, personal growth throughout the week:
Sunday School is offered for all ages at 9:30 a.m.
Youth Club meets every Wednesday evening through most of the church year.
The Youth Group meets on Sunday evenings as scheduled.
There are Bible studies for men and women, at times announced. The men's group meets on most Monday evenings.
Is there an elevator?
The church does have an elevator, located near the handicapped parking spots.
Where do I park?
On Sundays we can park in any of the city lots, as well as on the streets. We also have several handicapped spaces in the alley off of Main Street. These spots are near the elevator entrance.
